WCRC joins in Pope’s call to prayer

“But we have this treasure in clay jars, so that it may be made clear that this extraordinary power belongs to God and does not comes from us. We are afflicted in every way but not crushed; perplexed but not driven to despair; persecuted but not forsaken; struck down but not destroyed.” —2 Corinthians 4:7-10

The World Communion of Reformed Churches calls on its members to join the call of Pope Francis to unite in praying the Lord’s Prayer on Wednesday, 25 March, at noon.*

“It is my hope that you will join this initiative in which all Christians invoking together the graces from heaven, will ask for the end of this pandemic, trusting in the power of God,” stated Cardinal Kurt Koch, president of the Pontifical Council for the Promotion of Christian Unity, in a letter of invitation sent to the WCRC and other Heads of Churches.

“We should all understand that we do not do this alone, but with God’s help,” said a recent letter from WCRC President Najla Kassab and General Secretary Chris Ferguson to member churches regarding the pandemic. “We must uphold each other in prayer and increase our efforts to be in touch with each other, through strong communications and sharing of challenges and needs—as well as of inspiration.”

Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us.
Save us from the time of trial, and deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours,
now and forever. Amen.
